Your safety
matters deeply.
Everything offered inside this ecosystem is designed with your whole wellbeing in mind — physically, emotionally, and somatically. Please read this page before beginning any breathwork, yoga, or movement practice. It is written with care, not as a legal formality.
Trauma-aware always.
I am currently completing my trauma-aware functional breathwork facilitation certification. All practices offered through Root & Rise and The Return are within my current scope of training and are designed with somatic safety at the forefront.
If you have a history of trauma, PTSD, significant mental health concerns, or are currently working through something difficult — I encourage you to work alongside a licensed therapist as you explore these practices.
These offerings are not a substitute for professional mental health support. They are a complement to it.
What to know before
you begin.
Breathwork is a powerful somatic practice. It can unlock emotions, shift your nervous system, and bring things to the surface that have been held in the body for a long time. This is the work — and it deserves your full awareness before you begin.
Your hands might curl.
That's completely normal.
During breathwork you may notice your hands wanting to curl or clench inward — sometimes your jaw too. This is called tetany. It is a completely normal physiological response to changes in carbon dioxide levels during conscious breathing.
It is not harmful. It is not a sign that something is wrong. It is your body doing exactly what it is designed to do. If it happens — simply slow your breath, return to natural breathing, and it will pass on its own.
Knowing this before it happens is the difference between panic and trust. You are safe. Your body knows what it's doing.
Heart conditions, high blood pressure, history of heart attack or stroke. Please consult your doctor before beginning.
Epilepsy or seizure disorders. The altered states during breathwork may increase risk.
Severe anxiety, panic disorder, psychosis, or recent psychiatric episodes. Please work with your licensed professional alongside these practices.
Active breathwork is not recommended during pregnancy. Gentle breathwork or meditation audios are generally safe — always consult your midwife or doctor.
Any recent surgery or significant physical injury. Allow your body adequate recovery time first.
Severe asthma or respiratory conditions. Have your inhaler nearby and consult your doctor if unsure.
If you are unsure whether breathwork is appropriate for you — please reach out before beginning. I would rather have that conversation than have you feel unsafe.
